Welcome To La Furia Chalaca

Family Owned and Operated Business Established in 1999.

Our mission is to offer the best traditional Peruvian food and flavor, using seasonal and quality products.

At La Furia Chalaca we believe that a quality product determines the result of a recipe; for this reason, we support the sustainable businesses of farmers markets that assure us fresh ingredients.

Celebrating recipes passed on through generations, chef Maria Fiestas (“Mamita”) brings forth small plates and tapas unique to Peru. A native of northern Peru, and long-time resident of the port city of Callao, Maria and her family opened La Furia Chalaca in 1999. At La Furia Chalaca one can explore both home-style cooking (ceviche, chicken with rice, lomo saltado), as well as smaller “tapa” plates that embrace the diverse and exciting blend of Asian-Peruvian fusion cuisine.

At La Furia Chalaca (and our club Chalaca Annexo), we take great pride in offering absolutely delicious authentic Peruvian cuisine while also offering live music, dancing, local art work, and a space that is both comfortable and beautiful to be in. We have been proud to serve Oakland residents for over 19 years in our Jack London Square location and, as a family owned/family run business, we deeply value being a part of a greater community for such a long period of time.
